About me

Hi, I’m Carol and I'm delighted to welcome you to CG Holistic Therapies. I gained my qualification through the Gaia School of natural health (an AoR approved centre) as a Level 5 Clinical Reflexologist. I am fully insured and a member of the Aor (Association of Reflexologists), which enables me to use MAR after my name.

Reflexologists who have trained with an AoR approved school will have completed over 300 hours of learning and carried about a minimum of 100 treatments during training.

Level 5 is the highest qualification available within the UK for Reflexology. Within the course we learned how to support people by using advanced muscular skeletal technique's, how to support clients on their fertility, pregnancy and menopause journeys, using reflexology with babies and children and using reflexology in palliative and cancer care. This qualification is recognised by the NHS and many other health care providers.

I am also qualified with Reiki 1 and 2 attunements. I offer personalised reflexology and reiki treatments that cater for my clients' individual needs. To this day I continue with ongoing professional development to enhance my knowledge and practical skills.

My interest in holistic health started when I was on my fertility journey. I went for several reflexology treatments, and I was amazed by the results and benefits it could offer. The treatments helped me to relax and unwind in a way that my body could heal itself to prepare for pregnancy. I found that there is something very magical about the way that our bodies can heal themselves of all kinds of things when given the right support.

For 18 years I have worked as a high school teacher. I love being able to work with young people and help them to gain the qualifications that they are studying for and sometimes I feel that I have really made a difference in their lives. I have seen in the education industry how much stress and anxiety is happening to people of all ages and I felt that I needed to learn a way to help people to deal with this. I felt a calling to work with people one to one and felt inspired to offer people a calmness that they rarely experience in their day to day lives.

My Approach

At CG Holistic Therapies I offer a natural approach to wellness through the power of reflexology and reiki.

Reflexology is a gentle noninvasive therapy that promotes healing throughout the body. It is a therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet correspond with different areas of the body. Reflexologists work these areas by applying gentle pressure to stimulate the body’s own healing responses. Many of my clients find that reflexology helps them to get into a state of deep relaxation, some say it eases pain, manages stress or gives them support with various health issues.

So, what are the benefits of Reflexology? well, I think firstly it enhances you mentally, physically and emotionally and spiritually. It brings our bodies back into a state of homeostasis – which means balance, it ensures that the cogs within our systems all work together harmoniously.

Reiki comes from Japanese energy healing traditions. The word means “universal energy,” and the practice is based on the belief that an initiated reiki healer channels this universal energy through their body and hands onto the receiver to facilitate balance and healing. Benefits can include deep relaxation, reduced stress and anxiety and improved overall well-being.

Clinical Reflexology

A therapeutic and relaxing treatment that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, known as reflex points. These reflex points are believed to correspond to different organs and systems in the body and can help to support clients with many different conditions. This treatment can encourage the body’s own healing response and increase energy.

Reiki

Reiki, a safe and gentle non-invasive healing technique, that helps balance, heal and harmonise, treating the whole person, supporting the mind and body physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. When our energy becomes depleted, disrupted or we have negative experiences or thoughts it causes blockages within our 'life force' energy which may lead to illness. Reiki works by releasing the energy blockages & imbalances.

Adaptive Integrated Reflexology (AIR)

AIR is a deeply relaxing and balancing treatment with simple adaptations to support clients with very stressful lives who really want to relax and switch off. This treatment can be adapted to support – children's mental health concerns, fertility, menopause, autoimmune disorders and muscular problems.

Aroma Reflex

This treatment involves the creation of an individualized blend of essential oils tailored to the holistic treatment plan. The blend will be used in the treatment to enhance the benefits of the treatment and then the client can take the rest of the blend home with them to use on a daily basis to continue to enjoy the benefits.

Fertility/Maternity Reflexology

Reflexology can be a supportive therapy for those on the path to parenthood. For those trying to conceive, it may help reduce stress and balance hormones. During pregnancy, it can offer relief from common discomforts and help prepare your body for birth. Postnatally, it can support recovery and help you adjust to the demands of new parenthood. I provide a safe, nurturing environment for you at every stage of this journey.

Women’s Health Reflexology

Menopause is a significant transition that can bring various challenges. Reflexology can be a soothing ally during this time. It may help manage common symptoms like hot flushes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. By promoting relaxation and supporting your body's balance, reflexology can help you navigate this change with more ease and comfort.

Palliative/Cancer Care

For those facing serious health challenges, reflexology can offer gentle, compassionate support. It may help manage symptoms, reduce anxiety, and improve quality of life. In palliative care, it can provide comfort and relaxation. For those undergoing cancer treatment, it may help manage side effects and promote a sense of well-being. I approach these sessions with extra care and sensitivity, tailoring the treatment to your specific needs and comfort level.

Some frequently asked questions...

How many treatments will I need?

Everyone is different and the response to Reflexology can be immediate or can sometimes take longer than one appointment. However, usually the benefits can be seen after 4-5 sessions. Regular weekly treatments are best for the body to properly begin the self-healing process. Following an initial consultation, I will suggest the number of Reflexology sessions I think we should undertake.

What happens in a treatment?

Reflexology is performed entirely on the feet, ankles or hands, so the most that you will have to do is take off your socks and roll up your trousers. During the treatment the client lies on their back on a reclining chair, supported by pillows and covered with a soft blanket to keep them warm.

And don’t worry - reflexology doesn't tickle! Many clients come to me with ticklish feet or worried about their feet being touched but find they can relax and enjoy the benefits of Reflexology without feeling any discomfort.

Does reflexology hurt?

You might find some areas feel a bit tender and sensitive to touch, but Reflexology does not involve hard pressing in the way that other massages might. As a therapist I will be aware of the status of your feet, noticing how they feel, look, the temperature and the colour around different reflex points. All these things play a part in understanding which areas of your body - as reflected through your feet - require a bit more care and attention.

Can you diagnose my health problems?

Reflexologists cannot claim to diagnose or cure, but during a treatment we get 'feedback' as to which parts of the body are working well and which are possibly out of balance. Sometimes Reflexology will highlight a specific area which is working hard to maintain your wellbeing; if a particular reflex point shows this kind of imbalance it can be discussed at the end of the session.

What are your fees & availability?

Reflexology sessions last 60 minutes and cost £40 per session in my treatment room. Mobile treatments are £50 for 60 minutes. I also provide a limited number of appointments for those on low-income; contact me to enquire about availability.

Note that if you want to cancel an appointment I require 48 hours’ notice; otherwise, you will still need to pay for any sessions missed. I accept payment in cash, by cheque or by bank transfer.

Can I keep on having reflexology?

Yes of course, but after an initial course of treatments many people choose to check in monthly for a top-up, to help maintain their general wellbeing, or as a scheduled 'de-stress'. Clients will get back in touch if they start feeling any aches and pains or get any new conditions and they arrange treatments as and when they need them.

Sessions & Fees

At CG Therapies, I offer personalised sessions to meet your needs. Prior to a session I will send you a consultation form via email to gain information on your health history taking about 5 minutes to complete, so that I know that this therapy is suitable for you

Reflexology sessions for individuals last 60 minutes. I will ask you to remove your shoes and socks, which allows me to examine and apply pressure to specific reflex points. For reiki sessions please allow 60 minutes. The price for a standard reflexology or reiki treatment is £40 or £50 for mobile. I also provide a limited number of appointments for those on low-income; contact me to enquire about availability.

Once the session has been completed, you may feel relaxed and rejuvenated. Some people may experience mild side effects, such as fatigue or increased urination, as the body adjusts to the treatment and releases toxins.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give 48 hours' notice so that I can help you to rearrange easily.
